Twin Falls Loop at Lynn Canyon
About Twin Falls Loop at Lynn Canyon
Length: 1.3km
Traffic: Moderate to High
Route Type: Loop
If you're an outdoor enthusiast looking for a short, but rewarding adventure, look no further than the Twin Falls Loop at Lynn Canyon Park. Nestled east of North Vancouver, this trail offers a delightful combination of natural wonder and a thrilling suspension bridge experience. Lynn Canyon Park consists of many hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty - we decided to keep it simple this time with the Twin Falls Loop.
As we embarked on the Twin Falls Loop, we couldn't help but notice the trail was fairly busy, with fellow hikers seeking their own slice of tranquility. The path meandered through the lush BC forest on a man-made wooden walkway including stairs along the way.
We decided to tackle the Twin Falls Loop counterclockwise, allowing us to savour the trail at our own pace and end with the suspension bridge rather than having it at the beginning. We appreciated the well-maintained walkways that guided our footsteps. These designated paths not only ensured our safety, but also minimized our impact on the surrounding environment. These walkways made the hike more accessible for hikers of varying experience levels although there are some stairs.
A highlight of the Twin Falls Loop is undoubtedly the exhilarating suspension bridge experience. As we reached this iconic structure, we couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. It certainly got busier as we got closed to the bridge, which is gracefully suspended between towering trees, offered breathtaking views of the cascading falls below. Stepping onto the bridge and feeling it sway beneath our feet was a thrilling sensation and we're glad it doesn't concern Markus.
Our Recommendation for Reactive Dogs
While going through this hike, we encountered quite a few dogs along the way. Something we've noticed about hiking in North Vancouver is that dogs are often off-leash, as was the case here, which posed a challenge as we wanted to maintain a peaceful hike for Markus, our reactive dog. If you're planning to try this trail, we would caution against going during popular holiday or weekend periods to avoid the crowds and potential conflicts with unleashed dogs.
