Like so many of you, my wife and I are meticulous shoppers. Whether it be online or in-person, we tend to put a lot of research into the things we purchase so that we know we're putting our hard-earned money on the proper products. There are so many options for even basic items like leashes and collars that it's easy to get lost in what we're buying.

We will be writing reviews as we purchase and use these items ourselves. As you do your research for products you're planning to buy, our goal is to add another layer to that research.

Over Christmas, we received a number of gifts and toys for Markus that came in all different sizes and packages. In that pile of gifts (that was frankly bigger than ours combined because people love giving gifts to a dog and not us), there was one smaller package that was neatly gift-wrapped and didn't quite look like the rest. When we opened the package, we were happy to find a dog bandana from Mutt Cloth waiting for us! Mutt Cloth's one of our favourite line of dog bandanas and we were so excited to add another one to his ever-growing collection.

About Mutt Cloth

Mutt Cloth dedicates their time to finding the best designer and vintage fabrics from around the world to create beautiful handcrafted dog bandanas. Their fabrics are not only unique, but they are also high-quality and you can tell from the first touch. Based out of New York, Mutt Cloth's attention to quality and handiwork make their dog bandanas stand out from the rest.

Why we're fans of Mutt Cloth

In addition to the quality of their material, we've really enjoyed seeing their one-of-a-kind fabric patterns. Take it from us, when you've shopped for dog bandanas as much as we have, you start seeing the same fabric patterns across different stores.

We don't get that with Mutt Cloth.

Mutt Cloth's fabrics are thoughtfully handpicked and curated from around the world. For this reason, some of their designs come in limited quantities that adds that extra bit of exclusivity to them. This means is that the chances of us coming across another dog with the same bandana is extremely low and it's like we have our own little custom wardrobe for Markus.

You can see the quality of Mutt Cloth's dog bandanas speak through their images. Beyond the unique patterns, you can tell that each bandana is carefully finished with borders sown along the edges of the fabric. These borders not only make it more durable, but they're also part of the look. With their bandanas, there's also the option to finish it with a button or leave it as a tied knot behind the dog's neck. We do like the button for the ease of taking it on and off, but we do prefer to tie the knot ourselves because it allows us to determine the size.

We've also find Mutt Cloth's bandanas to be easy to clean and they tend to keep their shape after washing. Markus isn't the messiest of dogs to begin with (far from it, actually), but living in Vancouver where it rains half the time, it's not uncommon for the bandana to be muddied or covered in dirt after a hike. Mutt Cloth bandanas aren't just part of a look and for the purposes of photo taking, but they're also fully functional and ready to take on the elements of a dog that loves to explore like Markus.

The Mutt Cloth lifestyle is very distinct and it shows through their branding and their ambassadors. They have a strong community of supporters who not only wear the brand, but they live it. The Mutt Cloth brand is so much more than just the bandana and you'll know what I mean by just following a few of their ambassadors. We appreciate their tips and advice on being dog owners and we are regularly inspired by the sense of adventure and exploration!

We’re so grateful for your support of The Markus Project. We mostly choose our locations through searching and word of mouth. If you know of a park, trail or location you think we should check out, please share it with us. We’d love to know!
